JOB SUMMARY:

As the Event Manager, you will be responsible for the management, execution and development of three business-to-business Design events (designjunction, Sleep + Eat and KBB). You will be also be working with the Director on developing new initiatives and projects to grow the business.

You will liaise with the Group's senior management to ensure that the development of the products fit within the strategic objectives of the wider portfolio while developing a long-term strategy for profitable growth.

P&L management is a pivotal element of the role, assisting the Group's senior management in both delivering the required revenue and managing costs effectively to deliver on event KPI’s.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Director in successfully organising designjunction, Sleep + Eat and KBB. This will mainly involve taking ownership of agreed projects and delivering them to set objectives.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of event KPI’s and forecasts
  • Help set, adhere to and manage event P&Ls in conjunction with the Director
  • Monitor sales and operational performance and tracking vs. forecasts closely to anticipate changes compared to forecasting
  • Liaise with marketing on messaging and communication to achieve visitor goals
  • Liaise with finance for financial reporting requirements
  • Provide market, competitor, product & visitor intelligence
  • Responsible for determining and executing business development strategy
  • Responsible with the Director for further development of own events, considering the strategy for the events as well as the portfolio, by transferring the strategic objectives into tactical plans and leading the execution of these across sales, marketing, content and operations
  • When required, manage the performance and develop junior staff (Event Assistant)
  • Become an expert and a “Face” within the industry. This will entail attending networking events, other exhibitions (both home and abroad) and building relationships with key external stakeholders (media, associations, key visitors, exhibitors etc.).
  • Function as an integral part of overall show management effort in performing additional duties as required.

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrable experience in the (large scale or B2B) events and/ or exhibition industry
  • Proven experience on high performing events with consistent track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • Creative and structured approach to motivating and supervising support teams
  • Proven ability to handle and implement multiple projects with different stakeholders
  • Ability to manage projects effectively, adhering to given timelines with the ability to react flexibly if needed
  • Proven ability to build relationships with all stakeholders – internal and external
  • Creative talent possessing charisma and energy.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of standard computer software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of sales database management a plus.
  • Must be team-focused with a collaborative mindset and able to work seamlessly with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, fast learner.
  • Experience in effectively communicating priorities, delivery expectations, risks and concerns to senior management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, analytical skills.   
  • Excellent customer service skills. Listens to and understands customers and supplier expectations, needs and wants.
  • Anticipates and responds to potential opportunities and threats for the business relevant to the conditions of the market and industry
  • Ability to lead from the front and develop junior members of staff through direct management and mentoring.
